I stayed in Wyken Cottage for May 1/2 term 2024. The cottage is in a lovely location - 1 min walk from 'The Ham' play area/beach/town centre, yet very quiet. The downstairs of the property is 5-star, but upstairs needs some cash spending on it (bathroom needs replacing, + new carpets & mattresses in all bedrooms and new windows upstairs at the back). Upstairs is a 3-star, in my view. It wasn't a desperate situation, overall, but we paid almost £1k for the week and I don't think it was worth that! The kitchen is the best equipped I have ever seen in a holiday-let: pans of all sizes, lots of useful crockery, all utensils. Helpful extras such as picnic-blankets, flasks, buckets/spades etc were all found at the house too. We came by train so all that was very useful as we couldn't bring them. If you are travelling by car, don't underestimate the benefit of the parking spot included with this property (which we didn't need): Sidmouth is horrendous for finding somewhere to park. That said, it's a really wonderful place and we happily spent all week there (my kids are 10 & 12).
