Stables Barn is a spacious home with a coordinated ‘coastal’ décor throughout. The rooms are spacious, light and well thought out.

Part of a small number of converted barns, around a central courtyard, Stables Barn benefits from a peaceful and private location with off-road parking. East Budleigh village has a friendly local pub, Sir Walter Raleigh, serving great food and a village shop. It is ideally placed for access to some fantastic local walks. The lovely seaside town of Budleigh Salterton is just a short drive away with it's delightful pebble beach and selection of shops, restaurants and cafes. 

This stylish cottage has been sympathetically renovated with real attention to detail throughout. A spacious hallway leads to the large sitting room with wooden floors and neutral decor- the room is flooded with light from the two large sash windows to the front of the property. This elegant room has two comfortable sofas, a large coffee table and a fantastic wood-burning stove.

The kitchen is in a traditional style and is well equipped. A wooden table can seat up to 6 people. The back door leads to the pretty enclosed private courtyard garden with patio furniture. 

There is also a downstairs cloakroom with sink and W.C.

Upstairs the property benefits from high vaulted ceilings and exposed wooden beams, giving a lovely feeling of space.

Bedroom 1: The master bedroom, decorated in classic blue and white, has large sash windows to the front and side, a king size double bed, wardrobe, chest of drawers and en suite shower room.

Bathroom 1: Master bedroom en-suite shower room and WC. 

Bedroom 2: The second double bedroom also has a King size bed and is beautifully appointed with coastal designs, wardrobe & chest of drawers.

Bedroom 3: There is a third smaller bedroom with a single bed suitable for a child or adult. 

Bathroom 2: The family bathroom is also upstairs and has a shower over bath, sink and W.C. 

Please note the Wifi signal is occasionally erratic which BT is trying to improve.

A perfect location for walking, swimming, golf, art, fishing, birdwatching along the River Otter, exploring the  South West Coast Path or just relaxing. Locations nearby include  East Devon Golf Club Bicton Botanical Gardens,  Otterton MillExmouth,  Pebblebed Heaths National Nature Reserve, Sidmouth, Exeter City Centre and  Killerton Gardens

By car: From the A3052 Exeter to Lyme Regis road take the B3178 from Newton Poppleford towards Budleigh Salterton.

By bus: From Exeter bus route number 58 goes to Budleigh Salterton. Approximately 1.30 hours.

By train: The closest train station is Exmouth. Approximately 15 minutes.

By plane: The closest airport is Exeter International. Approximately 30 minutes.

Lovely location & well equipped cottage. Welcome pack tasteful & appreciated after a long journey. However, having stayed at the property over a number of years, I think it is perhaps time for new duvets, which are now a bit sparse & lumpy. The double bed in the second bedroom has a mattress topper but can't disguise the mattress is very soft now. Also, the sofa seating cushions desperately need replacement infills. The sofas have been in situ for some time now, under previous owners, and the cushions are now really flat & you can feel the frame through them, which is uncomfortable. Also, the trims around the shower door in the en suite need looking at. They are either aged or grubby but either way, are off putting I hope these points are taking as helpful feedback & not criticism. We still had a lovely stay.

The owners have taken all of these points on board, they have purchased new duvets and have plans to re-stuff the sofas. The second bedroom mattress is relatively new, we appreciate it is difficult to find a mattress to suit all tastes and apologise it is not to your preference.
