Where do I start. From the moment we drove into the property and I noticed the property name plate lying on the drive reminiscence of the opening scene from Fawlty Towers l was somewhat taken aback. This didn't improve any when we surveyed the property on the outside and noticed that it was rather grubby and unkempt, something you don't expect from a supposed 4 star property. l followed the instructions given to me to find the key safe but to my bewilderment l could find it at the front of the house. l looked around the back of the property, the sides, everywhere but couldn't find the safe. l was on the point of ringing you when an electrician turned up who was working on the house and showed me where the key safe was, which was hidden from view behind a down pipe to the back and side of the property. The electrician commented that it had taken him ages to find it so it wasn't just me who had difficulty. I would recommend that you tell people exactly where this safe is in future as this would make life a lot easier when you first arrive. The electrician let us in and carried on repairing the lights in the down stairs cloakroom and we preceded to inspect the property. To my amazement this "thoughtfully furnished and decorated to a high standard property" was both tired and shabby. Wallpaper is peeling off in most rooms, the windows haven't been cleaned in years because you can hardly see out of them because of the combination of dirt and failed sealed units. The seating in the main living room has seen better days and it was impossible to get comfortable on them as the cushions are passed their best as well as the leather is breaking down and peeling away from the arms.The coffee table was filthy and obviously hadn't been cleaned and in these days of Covid made me wonder how deep your deep cleaning processes are. The kitchen which l agree with your comment that it was a quality kitchen, when it was first put in, is no longer quality as bits are dropping off and peeling and areas have melted away from their backing. I could go on with the negatives on this property but l don't wish to, all l will add is that your marketing of this property is not truthful and at best is only a 2 star, just because the property is large doesn't make it a 4 star its whats in the property that counts. My final observation and one that angered me for 4 days because we had no heating for this duration was your instructions in the welcome folder for the heating which said that the thermostat was in the hall on the wall, which indeed there is one, the problem is this thermostat doesn't control the heating has its wires have been cut and another one has been installed in a cupboard in the kitchen.Which if you ask any heating engineer is the last place you would fit a heating thermostat and why it took me 4 days to find it. Finally l would like to add that I have been using your company for many years without any issues but this property, your description of it and its condition has raised many concerns for me and left a very unpleasant taste in my mouth and raises doubts about using your company again. We had planned to have various upgrades done at this property in the spring last year but these had to be put on hold. We can confirm that Dundridge has now had various upgrades throughout and all the points you have mentioned have been rectified.
