The festive season brings many Devon Christmas Markets which mean plenty of opportunities to get into the festive spirit! Christmas markets are a wonderful way to support local communities and buy gifts for loved ones. There are a wide variety of stalls from local arts and crafts to artisan food stalls. Sizzling sausages, mulled wine and cinnamon scents fill the air so after all that shopping why not treat yourself to a delicious festive treat from one of the many food stalls.
We have put together a list of our favorite Christmas markets in Devon:
Exeter Christmas Market is the largest Christmas market in Devon and runs for a whole month with over 100 different stalls. The market is on the cathedral green in Exeter and is open from 10am – 7pm Monday – Wednesday, 10am – 9pm Thursday – Saturday & 11am – 5pm on Sundays. There are street food stalls from around the world and live festive music. Each Thursday throughout December Exeter shops also stay open as part of the Princesshay late night shopping Exeter event.
Join Topsham as they kick off the festive season with their festive market and Christmas light switch on. There will be plenty of mulled wine and all the independent shops always make sure their window displays are fabulously festive. Topsham also have a late-night shopping event on 29th November.
The annual Christmas community market will be at The Institute in Ottery St Mary and is full of stalls with local produce. There are crafts, gifts, food and more available at this Christmas themed Community Market. The market café offers festive food and drink. All the funds go towards the local church for the benefit of the community and the church choir will be singing carols
Ocean in Exmouth has an indoor Christmas market with over 40 local stalls, festive music and plenty of food to choose from. This market runs from 10.30am – 6pm and is all indoors which makes it the perfect day for shopping for last minute Christmas gifts.
Darts Farm in Topsham will be holding their annual Christmas carol evening again this year and it really is an evening to remember. Join everyone at Darts Farm outside by The Shack, with the Christ Church Woodbury and the South West Communications Band to sing away in festive spirit. After all that singing indulge in some delicious food and splash out on gifts for loved ones.
As well as Totnes market day on Fridays & Saturdays, Totnes hosts a Christmas market & late-night shopping on the 6th, 13th & 20th December from 3pm- 9pm. There will be entertainment, great food & drink, a gnome trail and over 70 local artisan stalls plus Totnes’ independent stores.
