Chapel Cottage is the ultimate chocolate box thatched cottage with heaps of character and nestling in its own secluded grounds in the beautiful rural farming hamlet of Harcombe.Part of the East Devon Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, Harcombe lies less than three miles inland from Sidmouth and just 1.5 miles to Sidford, with Spar mini-supermarket, pharmacy and two local pubs. Built in 1640 and originally the site of the local chapel, Chapel Cottage has been owned by the same family for generations, once  formingpart of the Sand Estate in Sidbury, home to the Huyshe family for over 500 years.

The cottage would suit anyone wanting a quiet, relaxing, "get away from it all" holiday.With abundant wildlife in the large garden and surrounding fields, its inglenook fireplace for cosy winter fires, patio area for al fresco summer meals, masses of daffodils and primroses in the spring and spectacular views of countryside glowing gold in the autumn, Chapel Cottage will welcome you at any season.
ACCOMMODATION: Large attractive entrance hall. Cosy sitting room with original exposed beams, inglenook fireplace for log fires, window with window seat overlooking the garden and surrounding countryside. Door to garden.Large dining room with serving hatch to kitchen, window seat, exposed beams and ornamental inglenook fireplace (not for use). Spacious, fitted Shaker style kitchen with stable-door to garden. Large washroom with traditional ceiling pulley clothes airer, power shower cubicle and separate W.C. On the first floor are two charming bedrooms, one double and one twin, each having exposed beams and delightful far reaching country views. Bathroom with W.C.

OUTSIDE: Large lawned garden and patio area with attractive garden furniture and parasol.Ample parking for four cars. Public footpaths and bridleways abound in the surrounding area.

Pets welcome; charged at £25 per week

Private parking for four cars

Wi Fi. TV with Freeview and DVD player. Also BT YouView box. iPod docking station/Radio/CD/cassette player.

Electric cooker, washing machine, dishwasher, microwave, fridge/freezer.

Bed linen included. A choice of duvets or blankets to be confirmed at time of booking. Towels available to hire at £8 per set.

High chair. A large selection of CDs, DVDs, books and games.Telephone for local, incoming and emergency calls.

Open log fire, logs are included. Efficient night storage heating throughout, electricity included.

We ask that guests kindly refrain from smoking in the cottage.

9th May 2015 - 'Plans of sitting on the terrace in evening sun haven't materialised! Even so, we haven't opened umbrella's on our sightseeing trips around this beautiful part of England and felt very snug near the fire in the evenings. Bluebelles have been at their best and we have recorded 13 various birds in the garden. Taken 'prize winning' photos of the phesant and cows! Unfortunately it would be most unusual for us to be in a position to consider a short break at peak holiday times, such as the October and February half terms or over the Christmas, New Year and Easter breaks.
